Convergence in European Sales Law

Introduction

This page explains the methodology behind the study ‘Convergence in European Sales Law: A Comparative and Numerical Approach‘ (Catalina Goanta, Intersentia, 2016). This project was funded by the HiiL-Maastricht University Chair on the Internationalisation of Law.

The Convergence Index developed in the study is calculated at two levels of governance: European and national. For this volume, data has been collected on the basis of five Directives (Doorstep Selling; Unfair Terms; Distance Selling; Consumer Sales; and Unfair Commercial Practices) and seven Member States (Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Romania and the UK).
